The project was born from the idea of recounting Dante's life and works, on a journey that covers the places of his life and his poetry, both in Verona and in Florence.
The show will therefore take place in an "itinerant" way: the spectators will be guided by an actor-narrator, or rather a Virgil - Narrator, who will lead them from time to time to discover a different moment in Dante's life and in parallel with his works.
The inspiration comes from our experience of more than twenty years now, of the traveling version of "Romeo and Juliet", which since 1989 has been staged in the splendid scenery of the historic center of Verona, the Cortile di Giulietta and the surrounding squares, in which the scenes of the tragedy that made Verona famous throughout the world actually took place.
In the same way, we believe that Verona and Florence cannot miss a show that pays homage to the Supreme Poet that will be told through life and works in a unique and suggestive setting, naturally highlighting different episodes and works, in a path in which the world of Dante, suspended between history and imaginary, from real to otherworldly.
The peculiarity of the path, thanks to the experience and collaboration with Silvia Mercuriali, Italian actress and director but now residing in London for some time, is that the Virgil - Narrator who will lead the spectators, will do so with the new technology of Silent Play: the spectators will have whisper - radios, luminous headphones, through which they will hear the words of the actor, but also sounds, music and suggestions that will make the path a real sensory walk.
The spectators, modern traveling souls, will be led into Dante's works, in a unique and unrepeatable way, between earthly, historical and real places and otherworldly places of the imagination.
The route will develop from the Teatro Nuovo, through via Dante Alligheri, Piazza Dante, the Arche Scaligere (which thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Verona will be open in the evening only for our spectators), via Sottoriva, piazza Santa Anastasia, via Ponte Pietra , piazzetta Broilo, to finish after a dutiful and important passage in front of the Capitular Library, in the cloister of the Cathedral, in front of the Church of Sant'Elena.
During the journey Virgil - Narrator will involve the spectators, as if they too were walking the path of Dante and also involving them in some reading ... under his guidance of course!
